The introduction to the Nike SB’s January 2011 Footwear only means one thing to follow – the Apparel & Accessories Release. With so much focus on workwear and the wardrobe of the so-called “everyday men”, Nike SB decided to create their own labor in January 2011. Welcome to the new year with a hint of blue collar grit as Nike SB introduces the Local Union collection. Backed not by the advocates of the working men, but by their attitude of “it ain’t done till its over”. So much for the idea of a skateboarders’ union… Another presence is the tin-colored green, which adorn the Nike SB hoodie, t-shirt, truck hat, and backpack, a very close resemblance to the uniforms issued by New York City Department of Sanitation. The same folks who clean up after the New Year’s Ball drop in Times Square. So dust off the confetti and put away those New Year party favorites, its time to get to work.
