Lanvin – Spring/Summer 2010 – Sneaker Collection

Ever since Alber Elbaz and Lucas Ossendrijver laid their alchemical touch on Lanvin men’s collection, the Lanvin man has become a symbol of the contemporary, progressive male that many yearn to be. The Lanvin man is a learned street dandy, who is effortlessly nonchalant, thus slightly disheveled and untidy, but smart. He cares about the way he looks, but just enough so it doesn’t run his life. As one of the forerunners who championed taking luxury to the streets and one of the rare few which had executed it with perfection, Lanvin’s foray into sneakers by using the street staple as a canvas for expressing the Lanvin style has been one of the most successful and coveted yet.

This season, Lanvin continues to think outside the box in its sneaker collection, drawing different materials, patter and silhouettes into its hi tops and low tops. The new Lanvin collection is bold and unafraid of colors, but uses just the right balance of it. For instance, a busy plaid hi-top is toned down with muted earthy shades, and kaledescopic colors are constrained to a small sprawl of print and the rest are balanced off with clean, white and off-white shades. The new sneaker collection continues to illustrate that Lanvin is able to find that difficult balance between breaking boundaries and becoming ostentatious. The new collection is available for purchase via Lanvin, and meanwhile, starting from April 26 to May 16, Lanvin will be putting its one-off Swarovski Crystallized creation on display at its Ginza boutique in Tokyo.
